Capacity+ has dedicated over 10,000 hours to the Greater Baltimore Urban League by giving back. We have focused primarily on their Saturday Leadership Program (http://www.gbul.org/saturday-leadership-program.html) providing at no cost our full range of our capacity building services. Launched in 2013, the Saturday Leadership Program (SLP) fosters college and career readiness while developing community leaders. As part of this effort, we reach out to the local community to assemble groups of volunteers to practice mock and informational interviews with Baltimore City high school students. In addition, Capacity+ prepared 28 awarded grants ranging from $1,000 to $50,000 and totaling more than $440,000 for the organization. Capacity+ Principal, Estelle, notes that the Greater Baltimore Urban League “has a broad mission of racial equality, making it very easy to find ways to contribute to this organization’s an important mission.”
Capacity+ supports the American Association of University Women (AAUW) efforts to be “tenacious and trailblazing-advocating for women and girls since 1881 and into the future!” (www.aauw.org/about/). AAUW has awarded over $115 million in fellowships and grants to more than 13,000 scholars and organizations in 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and Gaum and 150 countries, one of the largest scholarship programs for women in the world. Capacity+ has supported AAUW by serving on its committees and helping to plan events such as raising money for college with parents and students at Western High School in Baltimore. AAUW recognized her many contributions by awarding her the 2021 Women of Distinction (National Conference for College Women Student Leaders -NCCWSL).
